When destroying a Kiki, the player is awarded one hundred points and an Animal will be set free from the robot. Alternatively, they can be used to break Cages. During this time, the player can pick them up and throw them back at the Kikis. Like in Sonic Adventure, there will be a delay before the Kikis' bombs explode after they are tossed, during which they will flash intermittently more and more rapidly before detonating. These Badniks can be found on top of pillars or at corners. Others simply spin in one place and jump without throwing bombs. Normal ones jump on one foot and will toss both large and small bombs at the player when they get too close. In gameplay, Kikis display two behaviors. In Sonic Adventure 2 and its enhanced port Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, the Kikis appear in the following stages for each character: When destroying these caged Kikis, a closed passage nearby will open. In Gamma's story on the other hand, the player can destroy the caged Kiki by simply shooting it. In Sonic's story, Sonic can destroy it with the Light Speed Attack, and in Knuckles' story, Knuckles can destroy it with the Monkey Detonation Switch. The other Kiki is guarding the entrance to Red Mountain. This Kiki can be destroyed by digging up the Monkey Detonation Switch and placing it under the Kiki's cage. One Kiki guards the Eastern Cave where Knuckles can find the Shovel Claws. These Kikis guard blocked passages to different areas. There are also two Kikis in cages that can be found in the Mystic Ruins Adventure Field, in both Sonic and Knuckles' stories. Destroying a Kiki will in turn release the Animal inside it. These bombs cannot be picked as they can cause damage to the playable character if they touch them, even before they blow up. In some cases, they can even throw bombs with spikes on them. In the latter case, the player can pick them up and throw them at Badniks to destroy them. Some bombs might explode right away or after awhile. They will snicker while jumping and doing somersaults excitedly if their attack is successful. Kikis up high and some on the ground always carry bombs that they will throw in the player's direction. In some cases, they may even occupy strategically better positions, such as on palm trees or umbrellas. There are also some Kikis who linger on the ground and can run slightly away from a player if spotted, while others will try and hurt the player by coming close. They idle about either watching the scenery if in high places, or scratching their heads every now and then if they are on the ground. They also occupy vastly different positions in the Actions Stages, as they are either found in high places or on the ground. In gameplay, Kikis can appear by themselves or in groups. In these games, they are common enemies, and can be found in the following Action Stages for each character:Ī Kiki, from Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut.
